Training & Awareness

The projected population “boom” in older adults demands a professional work force specifically trained in elder care. The depth and breadth of knowledge necessary to appropriately care for the increasing numbers of elderly requires not only a base training, but also ongoing training. It is imperative that those in the elder care work force keep up with research as well as new techniques and methods to provide excellent care. A variety of organizations provide such training; however, these trainings are not always easily accessible. We need to cater to individuals seeking knowledge about entering the elder care job market by making educational resources both attractive and easy to find. And, we must provide a simple way for elder care professionals to identify programs to maintain and improve their expertise.

The Professional Training and Awareness Committee of Silverprint Colorado developed a database to collect educational programs for Colorado eldercare professionals (current and future) to use as a resource.

  • All organizations providing educational programs in elder care (on-site in Colorado or on-line) are invited to list their information on this database. Website addresses are collected for each organization, so participants can check out the details of each organization and the particular programs offered.

The database has been developed for companies providing workshops/seminars as well as ongoing networking/educational programs. Companies with a one-time or sporadic training offering are also invited to list their information.
  • Current (or aspiring) elder care professionals are invited to browse through our database to identify organizations offering programs that suit their needs – by location within Colorado or specific profession (i.e., social work, management, pharmacist, physician…)

It is our hope that this database will empower more organizations to offer “quality” programs in elder care and for more professionals to embrace the field, so that the work force can start to match the anticipated need.
